Scientific activities
On the annual basis, we have organized various scientific activitiesÂ
from the journal club over bio-complex seminar series to international workshops/symposia.
Here are our traces over the recent few years.
TBIO Scientific activities
Bio-complex Monthly Journal Club & Seminar
The Bio-complex Journal Club is a monthly journal club representing one of the major academic activities in the Physics Department, and has started in 2016. This is a joint journal club of multiple related research groups (in the field of biological sciences and statistical physics) in the Department of Physics & Engineering Departments, and APCTP. The program consists of a monthly seminar by invited researchers and the paper reviews by PhD students.
TBIO Journal Club & group study
The TBIO Journal club is a weekly journal club led by PhD students of TBIO. Two volunteers present interesting papers in the field of biological physics and statistical physics, and the audience communicates with the presenters. One can freely discuss any research problems or ideas with the TBIO members. Sometimes we also organize a group study and read selected books together. If you are interested in our activities, see the below.
Biophysics Conference & Symposium & Workshop
The workshop on stochasticity and fluctuations in small systems
This symposium aims to provide a regular international scientific meeting for scientists in the fields of statistical and biological physics. This symposium discusses current research topics in small systems, such as biological, soft matter, and complex systems, where the notions of stochasticity and fluctuations are essential to understand the phenomena. The participants will have an opportunity to present and discuss their research achievements in diverse frontier topics as well as freely exchanging new ideas for scientific collaborations. Additionally, to the junior scientists in the East Asia regions, this meeting will be an excellent venue to learn the current frontier topics from the leading scientists.
Frontiers in Theoretical Biophysics
In the symposium, we plan to discuss a few current topics in biophysics, such as complexity, artificial intelligence, biomechanics, and chromosome organization, with seventeen invited speakers from South Korea, Japan, the UK, the USA, Israel, and Sweden.
KIAS-FUB International Workshop on Bio-Soft Matter Theory
Biophysics School
Biophysics School
This program offers undergraduate students with a keen interest in biological physics the chance to engage in enriching scientific experiences. Participants will have the opportunity to attend seminars led by prominent professors from domestic universities, focusing on cutting-edge research in the field of biological physics. They will also engage in diverse scientific activities alongside graduate students from the POSTECH Physics department, fostering a collaborative learning environment. Additionally, students will have the freedom to interact and exchange ideas with fellow peers who share a passion for biological physics.
